A hitter’s percentile ranking in five areas of skill: hitting for average, hitting for power, running, plate discipline and fielding. We rank each hitter both among major leaguers in general and among players at his position.
Percentiles are determined for the 300-400 players who are currently regulars (based on recent playing time and playing time over the last three years). Minor league performance in the last three years is included in determining skills, except for fielding. Fielding is based on John Dewan's Plus/Minus System over the last three years.
We include any player with 300 plate appearances including MLE in the most recent 12 months or 600 PA include MLE in the entire 36 months, but the player must have at least 200 major league only plate appearance in the most recent 12 months.
